Dear Y-W Member:

Please accept this letter as notice by Y-W Electric Association, Inc. (YW) of electric rate adjustments for the upcoming year 2023.  The adjustments of YW's electric rates will go into effect January 1, 2023.  Of particular note is that the rate adjustments represent a 0% increase in revenue for YW for 2023.

As the way electric power is generated has changed dramatically over the last few years, YW is realigning rates to recover the costs to provide electric service to you, our members, consistent with the changing costs of power generation. By doing so, YW minimizes subsidies, and assures that each of the electric rate classes recovers the appropriate amount of revenue to provide each member reliable power.

Included with this letter is the Notice of Change in Tariff sheet corresponding to a 0% average overall rate increase for the year 2023 and contains details of how each rate class will be affected.  Specifically, please note that the service and/or demand charges for the rate classes have increased, and the energy (kWh) charges have decreased.  Overall, these increases and decreases balance out to yield a 0% increase in revenue for YW.  However, by changing the rate components, some members' billings will decrease slightly, some members' bills will increase slightly, and other will remain essentially unchanged from your 2022 billings.  The rate affect to you, depends on the specific rate class you are in, the amount of energy you use from month to month, and your pattern of usage in each billing month.

Please review the attached Notice and contact the YW office for additional details or to answer any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Trent Loutensock
General Manager
